A resort wedding is the perfect mix of luxury, relaxation, and adventure. As a destination wedding photographer, I love it when clients opt for a destination wedding at a resort featuring a stunning backdrop in an exotic location. With everything already in place, it’s easy to show up and enjoy luxury accommodations before saying, “I do.” However, to make your dream day that much better, remember a few key must-haves. From the perfect accessories for travel to the after-party celebration – I’ve got you covered. Throughout the blog, I’ll share my favorites you can’t forget when planning your destination wedding; let’s get to it!

For the Flight Before Your Resort Wedding
For such an important occasion as this, it helps to be prepared and embrace all the fun of being an almost newlywed! While preparing for your upcoming travel, near or far, there are a few things you won’t want to forget. First, a wedding garment bag to hold your wedding gown, suit, or any other important outfits. While you may already be planning to bring one, make it fun and add the traditional ‘bride or groom’ personalization. Embrace this season of life!
If your destination wedding requires a bit of traveling, don’t forget to bring eye masks. Your wedding will be a jam-packed event, and you’ll be happy to sneak in a bit of sleep now and then. Lastly, don’t forget to wear something comfy for your trip. Whether it’s a pair of joggers for your groom and a matching set for you or bride and groom sweats, you’ll be glad you did!
Welcome Party + Rehearsal Dinner
Now that you’ve arrived and are getting ready to welcome guests, you must look the part! While you won’t wear your wedding attire for the Rehearsal, you’ll still want to ‘look’ like a bride. Throughout my experience as a destination wedding photographer, I’ve curated the perfect list of items for both bride and groom. I always recommend a simple shoe that can be worn after this event: a simple brown loafer for the groom and a neutral heel. While accessorizing, look for items that add a bridal flair. A statement pair of earrings or a pearl headband. Something that sets you apart from the crowd. Lastly, stick to creams and tan clothing for you and your partner. It’s a great way to set the tone for the wedding while maintaining bridal looks.

Lounging By The Pool Before Your Resort Wedding
Are you looking forward to relaxing by the pool? I have all the fun poolside honeymoon and wedding weekend items to ensure everyone knows why you’re there! I love it when couples incorporate unique accessories with their married last name or the signature ‘wifey’ title. Pack a rash guard or cover-up to ensure no one gets a last-minute sunburn before the ceremony. When packing your swimsuits, lean into the bridal attire and wear a white suit! It’s another fun and simple way to embrace the wedding season.
Your Resort Wedding Day
Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life; here are a few things to help enhance the day! Consider finding cute bridal pajamas to wear the morning of your big day. They’ll be so pretty to wear while getting your hair and makeup done, and you can match your bridesmaids. If you believe in sentiment, get a unique perfume for your wedding day. After your big day, you can wear it on anniversaries; it’s a great way to return to that perfect day. A classic I love is Chanel No. 5. As a photographer; I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mention personalized hangers and vow books. They make great additions to photos and are so special for years to come.

After Party
After the vows are read and you are married to your partner forever, it’s time to party! I love it when brides plan for an outfit change for the reception and after-party. It’s a great way to add a touch of personality and fun flair. Whether changing into comfy bridal sweats or a simple white dress, it’s a fun way to get ready to party.
Getting ready for your big wedding day is stressful, but hopefully, it will be a little bit easier once you see this list. If you want a direct shoppable link for all my favorites, click here!
