5 Signs You May Want to Have a Destination Wedding

A destination wedding can be a magical and unique experience with your person traveling somewhere exotic and new. Growing up, you may have fantasized about getting married on the beach or traveling somewhere on your bucket list to experience your happily ever after. As a destination wedding photographer, I understand the dream and hype around the idea. However, it’s not for everyone. Throughout the blog, I’ll share my top 5 signs you may want to have a destination wedding. While reading, if any of these feel like you, take this as your sign to do it!

A Destination Wedding May Be Right For You If You Love to Travel

My husband, Daniel and I love to travel and are constantly on the move. Does that sound like you? If you and your partner are passionate about travel and enjoy exploring new places and experiencing new things, a destination wedding may be the perfect fit. Not only can you combine your love for adventure and travel, but you can also mark off dream locations from your bucket list! Couples that love to travel frequently book their destination wedding in a place that is meaningful to them or somewhere they’ve never been. It’s a great way to kick off married life and have an incredible wedding experience.

A More Intimate Gathering

Perhaps you prefer a smaller, more intimate wedding. Destination weddings often are smaller in attendance with a more selective guest list. Which ultimately can create a more personal and meaningful wedding day celebration with those who matter most. When couples book a destination wedding, they often prioritize the experience and location over the big traditional wedding. That’s not to say you can’t still party it up at your event, more so just with a few fewer people. These types of weddings are perfect for couples with a smaller guest list and are up for an adventure.

A Destination Wedding in a Dream Location

Remember when I mentioned that fantasy wedding? Think back to that daydream. If you picture yourself getting married somewhere specific, like on the beach in Mexico or with the Eiffel Tower behind you – you may be ready for a destination wedding. Do you have a particular location in mind that holds special meaning or simply a picturesque place you’ve always dreamed of? Not only can a destination wedding enhance the experience but also bring more magic to your wedding day.

You Love a Unique Experience

Throughout your wedding planning, maybe you’ve decided to be different from the traditional hometown ceremony. A wedding in a dream location offers a unique experience for both you and your guests. Not only creating lasting memories but also leaning into your sense of adventure. Another perk to a destination event is the opportunity to embrace the location’s culture and incorporate it into your event. While getting married in an epic location is a dream, weaving their culture into the event creates a unique experience for you and your guests.

Extended Celebration

Lastly, you like turning your wedding into an extended celebration. What’s better than a wedding weekend with your closest friends and family than a wedding vacation? Destination events such as these often span for several days, allowing for activities and exploring the location. Additionally, allowing you and your guests to enjoy a mini-vacation together with unique experiences beyond the wedding ceremony itself. If you’re traveling to a bucket-list location for your wedding day, you may as well enjoy it!

Consider these signs to determine whether a destination wedding is the right fit for you and your partner. If you relate to any of these points, you may be headed on a wedding adventure!
