Big Island Honeymoon Activities | Big Island Elopement Photographer

Looking to spend your honeymoon in paradise? Look no further than the Big Island of Hawai’i! As a Big Island elopement photographer I’ve done my fair share of exploring, and I’m sharing my favorites. After you marry your forever person, whether in an elaborate wedding or an intimate Big Island elopement, you deserve a break! After planning, and travel it’s time to make memories, soak up some sun and enjoy being together. I’ve completely fallen in love with the people and culture of Hawai’i and can’t wait to share my top Big Island honeymoon activities!

Must See Spots On Your Big Island Honeymoon

Punalu’u Bake Shop

If you’re anything like me and love finding the most unique and delicious spots wherever you go, you’ve got to stop at this must see location. Punalu’u Bake Shop is the southernmost bakery in the United States and located on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in the town of Na‘alehu. They say once you can smell their sweet treats you’ll know you’ve arrived. Consider stopping for some fresh baked goods and even eating at their outdoor restaurant. Whenever I’m on the Big Island, it’s top of my list!

Hawaiian Vanilla Co.

Next, the Hawaiian Vanilla Co. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing day of exploring. They offer tours and a luncheon from 12:30-2:30, Monday through Fridays. After a vanilla inspired luncheon, you’ll be taken through their Hawaiian vineyard featuring vanilla vines as far as the eye can see.

Da Poke Shack

Craving a taste of the ocean? Da Poke Shack is the best spot for the freshest poke you’ll ever have. They pride themselves on serving only the freshest fish, and encourage guests to come early in the day to experience their full menu. A Hawaiian local owned business serving only the best; tuna, shrimp, tako and taegu. As well as non-fish options and vegetarian options. It’s delicious!

Big Island Honeymoon Activities

Manta Ray Dives of Hawaii

Looking to mark off bucket list items like swimming with the Manta Rays? This excursion is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced. Experience swimming in the ocean with some of the most majestic ocean creatures. Manta Ray Dives of Hawaii‘s tour guides introduce you to over 200 local Manta Rays during an evening swim. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget!

Botanical World Adventures – Big Island Honeymoon Activities

Next on my list of top Big Island honeymoon activities is something that everyone dreams of, zip lining through the jungle. Botanical World Adventures provides you with the opportunity to jump right in and enjoy the beauty of Hawai’i. Featuring 8 zip lines and a suspension bridge, this is an adventure that will leave a lasting impression. If zip lining isn’t on your bucket list, Botanical World Adventures offers segway tours, a giant hedge maze, or bike adventures. There’s something for everyone here!

Volcanoes National Park

Another Big Island honeymoon activity favorite is exploring Volcanoes National Park. This park has 2 volcanoes and goes from sea level to 13,000 feet. The park homes two of the most active volcanoes in the world, Kīlauea and Maunaloa. The park is open 24 hours a day for hikes, exploring and providing service to the Stewardship at the Summit project. It’s a breathtaking spot to take in the views and learn more about the incredible nature in Hawai’i.

Mauna Kea

Lastly, and one of my favorites Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea or ‘white mountain’ is a volcano in Hawai’i that seasonally is snow-capped. It’s such a unique sighting on the Big Island and such a unique experience. This location is incredibly sacred to the Hawaiian people and is said to a region of the gods. Mauna Kea is a great spot for stargazing, taking in the sunset, and enjoying the beauty of Hawai’i.

Whether you choose high adventure or romantic days on the beach, your Big Island honeymoon is sure to be full of fun and so much excitement for the future.

As always be sure to follow the Leave No Trace principles and respect the land!
