Average Cost of Eloping in Iceland

Iceland, with its breathtaking landscapes, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and ethereal beauty, has become a dream destination for couples looking to exchange vows in an intimate and unique setting. Eloping in Iceland offers a one-of-a-kind experience, surrounded by glaciers, waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes. As an Iceland elopement photographer, I love it when couples choose to plan an adventure of a lifetime. For me, one of my top places to travel was Iceland, it’s breathtaking, full of adventure, and so much fun. However, planning an elopement involves careful consideration of costs. In this blog, we’ll explore the average cost of eloping in Iceland.

Let’s Get To Iceland

While flights are never truly inexpensive, if you play the time right, you can find some pretty great deals! The cost of flights to Iceland can vary depending on your departure location and the time of year. On average, expect to spend between $600 to $1,200 per person for round-trip flights.

Transportation on Island for Eloping in Iceland

Once in Iceland, renting a car is recommended for exploring the diverse landscapes. Rental costs can range from $50 to $150 per day, depending on the type of vehicle and insurance coverage. Also take into consideration that when fuelling your car, the price of fuel is in liters. While you may think it’s a great deal, everything is more expensive on the island!

Average Cost of Hotel

Hotel costs in Iceland can vary based on the location and the level of luxury. On average, budget for $150 to $300 per night for a mid-range hotel. Luxury accommodations may cost upwards of $400 per night. Opting for an Airbnb or vacation rental is an inexpensive alternative. Prices range from $100 to $250 per night, providing a more personalized and unique experience. Oftentimes Airbnb’s can provide you with recommendations for the area, as well as make your stay more homey!

Vendors for Eloping in Iceland

If you head to my blog, I detail the process of planning your Iceland elopement. Within that blog, I explain how to navigate the legalities of getting married out of the country. I suggest to clients to get married at home, and then fly to Iceland for a post-marriage ‘ceremony’ and adventure! Capturing the magic of your elopement is something you will never regret. Professional photographers typically charge between $1,500 to $3,000 for a full day of coverage.

Eloping in Iceland offers a unique and unforgettable experience, but it’s essential to plan and budget accordingly. On average, couples can expect to spend between $5,000 to $10,000 for a 2-3 day elopement extravaganza, depending on their choices for travel, accommodation, and additional experiences. While costs will vary, the memories created in Iceland’s awe-inspiring landscapes are undoubtedly priceless.
